Rewrite PDF text with AI
Open a PDF and use DocuMint's Rewrite tool to rephrase its text with AI — clearer, more concise, more formal, or exactly how you describe — then review, copy, or download the result.
Rewriting works with the document's text and doesn't recreate the PDF's original visual layout.

What DocuMint rewrites — and what it doesn't
DocuMint rewrites a PDF's extracted text content with AI. It does not edit or regenerate the original PDF file — the page layout, fonts, images, and visual formatting of your PDF are untouched and not reproduced in the result.
Limitations
- AI rewriting can occasionally shift nuance or specific details.
- DocuMint doesn't use OCR, so scanned or image-only PDFs may not provide usable text.
- Very large documents may exceed what can be rewritten in a single pass.
- The original PDF's layout and design aren't reproduced.
- The result is plain text, downloadable as .txt.
- Check anything important against the original document.
What happens to your PDF
- The PDF file itself stays in your browser — it is not uploaded to DocuMint's server.
- The document's text is extracted locally, in your browser.
- When you request a rewrite, the extracted text and your chosen mode or custom instruction are sent to DocuMint's server and then to our AI provider, OpenAI, to generate the result.
- DocuMint does not store the uploaded document or the rewritten text on its servers.

How do I rewrite text from a PDF?
Open a PDF in the DocuMint workspace, choose Rewrite, pick a mode (or write a custom instruction), and DocuMint AI rewrites the document's extracted text.
What does DocuMint's PDF rewriter change?
It rewrites the document's text content according to the mode you choose — for example clearer wording, a more concise version, a more formal tone, or grammar fixes — and shows a summary of what changed.
Can I choose how the text is rewritten?
Yes. DocuMint offers six modes: Improve writing, Simplify, Make professional, Make concise, Fix grammar, and Custom instruction, where you describe exactly what you want.
Does DocuMint edit my original PDF?
No. DocuMint rewrites the document's extracted text — it doesn't edit or regenerate the original PDF file.
Does it preserve the PDF's formatting?
No. The rewrite works with text only. The original PDF's layout, fonts, images, and visual design aren't reproduced in the result.
Can I copy the rewritten text?
Yes, the rewritten text can be copied directly from the workspace.
Can I download the rewritten result?
Yes — you can download the rewritten text as a .txt file.
Can it rewrite scanned PDFs?
DocuMint doesn't use OCR. A scanned or image-only PDF with no real text layer won't provide usable text to rewrite.
Is my original PDF uploaded?
The PDF file itself stays in your browser and is not uploaded to DocuMint's server. When you request a rewrite, the extracted text and your chosen mode or instruction are sent to DocuMint's server and then to OpenAI to generate the result.
Does DocuMint store my rewritten content?
No. DocuMint does not store the uploaded document or the rewritten text on its servers.
Can AI rewriting change the meaning?
It can. AI rewriting aims to preserve meaning, but nuance or specific details can occasionally shift. Check anything important against the original document.
