What DocuMint translates — and what it doesn't
DocuMint translates a PDF's extracted text content with AI. It does not recreate the original PDF with matching layout, typography, images, or visual design — the output is text, meant for understanding and reusing the content, not a translated replica of the file.
Limitations
- AI translations can contain mistakes or misread context.
- DocuMint doesn't use OCR, so scanned or image-only PDFs may not provide usable text.
- Very large documents may exceed what can be translated in a single pass.
- The original PDF's layout and design aren't reproduced.
- The result is plain text, downloadable as .txt.
- Check anything important against the original document.
What happens to your PDF
- The PDF file itself stays in your browser — it is not uploaded to DocuMint's server.
- The document's text is extracted locally, in your browser.
- When you request a translation, the extracted text and your chosen target language are sent to DocuMint's server and then to our AI provider, OpenAI, to generate the result.
- DocuMint does not store the uploaded document or the translated text on its servers.

How do I translate a PDF with DocuMint?

Does DocuMint translate the whole PDF?
DocuMint translates the readable text extracted from the PDF, up to what can be translated in a single pass. Very large documents may exceed that in one go.
Does the translated file keep the original PDF formatting?
No. DocuMint translates the document's text content — it doesn't recreate the original PDF's layout, typography, images, or design in the translation.
Can I download the translation?
Yes — you can download the translated text as a .txt file.
Can I copy the translated text?
Yes, the translated text can be copied directly from the workspace.
Can DocuMint translate scanned PDFs?
